Vandals Write 'Lion Killer!' And Throw Pigs Feet At Walter Palmer's Vacation Home

Vandals have zeroed in on the Southwest Florida vacation home belonging to reviled trophy hunter Walter Palmer. The Minnesota-based dentist is being sought for his role in the killing of Cecil the Lion while on safari in Zimbabwe last month.

Vandals targeted Palmer's $1 million home in Southwest Florida, throwing pickled pigs' feet covered in hot sauce (which looks like blood) at the home and spray-painting "LION Killer!" on his garage, according to the NY Daily News. Cups filled with animal crackers were also strewn on the lawn, local CBS affiliate reports. Walter Zalisko, a private investigator for the family, said no vandalism was found inside the home.

Marco Island Police authorities told the Chicago Tribune they are investigating the incident, and they didn't offer any details on any possible suspects. Last week, a sign criticizing the dentist popped up on his vacation home's lawn and Palmer's family hired a private security firm.

Police have been monitoring Palmer’s primary home in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, according to the Star-Tribune. A memorial for Cecil popped up at Palmer's dentist office last week. There hasn't been any damage reported at either his office or Eden Prairie home.

Palmer has released a statement admitting to killing Cecil, though he contends that he thought he had done so legally and was not aware that the lion was a beloved creature. Since then, he hasn't spoken out or made any public appearances but Zimbabwe officials say that they want him extradited.
