Acclaimed Pastry Bakehouse Baker Miller Opening New Shop In Ravenswood Manor

Rumors have been swirling for a few weeks about Baker Miller's latest venture. Dave Miller got the rumor mill started when he posted on Instagram that he'd signed a lease for a new location. But he faked a lot of people out as to the location—he may have signed the lease over in Logan Square, but it was actually for a location in Ravenswood Manor.

As we watched the Instagram pictures of the new concept trickle out, it became clear to those familiar with the Peterson Garden Project and their plant sale that Baker Miller was taking over their old space at the Francisco Brown Line Stop.

Now it's official, Baker Miller says. It's not going to be another bakery (they don't want to compete with First Slice, which is down the block) but a retail location, to be called Baker Miller General.

Drawing inspiration from Bi-Rite and Local Mission markets in San Francisco, the Millers envision their general store as a place to buy fresh produce, dairy and meat; bulk grains from Baker Miller Flour & Grain; house-made food items like jams, granola and ice cream, to name a few; fresh flowers; and natural cleaning products and paper goods.

We couldn't be more excited for them. That location around the Francisco stop is adorable, but woefully underserved by business, and this will be a boon to local residents and a destination for shoppers from around the city.

The new store is slated to open mid-October.
