Last month, Bar Toma closed for an extensive renovation. The downtown spot had always been a bit of an enigma and received mixed reviews, in part because it attempted to be all things to everyone. When the restaurant, helmed by Chef Tony Mantuano (Spiaggia) opened, it bragged of having everything from a breakfast pastry program to a mozzarella tasting counter to a gelato stand, not to mention an extensive menu that included all things Italian. Well, the creators have given it all up to focus on pizza, and now it's your turn to try some.

When the restaurant re-opens on Friday, Aug. 21, the menu will be completely focused on pizza, and they've even installed new wood-fired ovens to help them crank the pies out faster. In order to get customers excited for the pizza goodness that is coming, they're handing the stuff out for free ahead of the opening.

On Wednesday, Aug. 19 and Thursday Aug. 20, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., head to the patio at Bar Toma for a free slice. The promo only runs as long as supplies last. According to a press release, guests have to be a follower of Bar Toma on Facebook or Instagram in order to get the freebie, but who knows if they'll actually enforce that rule.

Bar Toma is located at 110 E. Pearson St.
