Local LGBT publisher Dane Tidwell has been missing for over a week, and his friends are asking for the public's help to locate him.

The Opus Media CEO and publisher, who is well known in local LGBT media and political communities, was last seen on Aug. 13 leaving an apartment building at 1040 W. Granville Ave. around 12 p.m., according to an Aug. 18 Facebook post by his friend Gerald Farinas.

Tidwell is 5'11", 165 lbs. and white. He has hazel eyes and a cropped beard with gray patches. He was wearing a green V-neck shirt with cutoff jean shorts when he disappeared, according to reports.

He left his glasses behind and doesn't have his phone, IDs or wallet with him, according to Farinas.

"We do believe that Dane is a threat to himself and needs help. We are fearful for his life," Farinas told DNAinfo in an interview.

He is grateful for the support he has received and hopes that Tidwell will be found as news of his disappearance spreads around the city.

"We also want to thank those who walked the streets and alleys, knocked on doors, circulated photographs, and shared information of Dane's physical description with others," Farinas told DNAinfo.

Opus Media evolved from the Chicago Phoenix, which Tidwell launched in 2011. He discussed his vision for the website with Chicagoist in an interview shortly after.

Anyone with information can contact Farinas by text at 312-350-1200, email him at gfarinas@gmail.com and call the Chicago Police Department at 312-744-8263.
