Six people were shot and killed this weekend in Chicago. One of the victims was 18-year-old Cory Fisher, who was supposed to start classes at Malcolm X College on Monday.
Tragically, Fisher died after being shot in the head Friday evening in the 3800-block of West Lexington Street, according to DNAinfo.
Fisher and his 16-year-old stepbrother were about two miles from their Garfield Park home when they got into an argument with someone who shot Fisher and shot his brother in the shoulder. Fisher was rushed to the hospital but died within 15 minutes of the shooting.
His family described Fisher, who graduated early from Manley Career Academy High School, as a quiet jokester who loved engineering. He had been working for Amer-I-can Enterprise, an organization that refurbishes Chicago Public Schools auditoriums, for nearly two years and planned to continue working for them when he started college.
"This kid had serious potential. He really could've been something great in this life. It just isn't fair," Amer-I-can Enterprise Executive Director Harold Davis told DNA Info.
No one is in custody yet for the slaying, police say.
