Updated 3:20 p.m. A three-story, extra alarm fire burning through Old Town's Adobo Grill location injured three people Wednesday afternoon, according to fire officials. A civilian suffered smoke-related injuries and two injured fire personnel are stable, the fire department announced via Twitter at about 3:00 p.m. The fire took off through the building's roof, which has partially collapsed.
The restaurant is located at 1612 N. Wells St., right next to Second City. Second City’s offices were destroyed in the fire but the theater building is “still safe for now”, the fire department tweeted. The famous comedy club was evacuated, according to its Twitter. Shows have been cancelled for Wednesday night, a theater rep told the Tribune.
Fire investigators have determined that the accidental fire started in Adobo's kitchen and went up a vent to the roof, according to CFD spokesman Larry Langford.
Nearby Chicagoans are sharing live-updates about the fire on social media.
