Second City Thanks Firefighters And Paramedics With A Free Show

Fire fighters work to put out a fire in Old Town at 1612 N. Wells St. Wednesday afternoonsaved the beloved theater from an extra-alarm fire Wednesday.

The improv comedy troupe has a couple of ideas brewing for the special event, Second City spokeswoman Robin Hammond said in an email.

"They are the real heroes. They're the ones that should get all the credit for this. The Chicago Fire Department did an amazing job," Second City spokesman Tyler Alexander told the Sun-Times.

Second City's offices were destroyed in the fire at 1612 N. Wells St., but firefighters managed to keep it out of the theater building next door. Performances are canceled through Sunday and a revised schedule will be announced on Aug. 31.
