Next Calls Out 'Pretentious' Wine Pairings In New Menu Ticket Release

By Anthony Todd in Food on Sep 8, 2015 4:54PM

It's that time again, folks: Next released the tickets for its latest menu this morning. This time, the theme is another abstract one, rather than a time or a place. "Terroir," a phrase usually used by wine geeks to describe the flavor of the land that infuses into grapes, is the theme for this menu.

Because (naturally) this menu includes wine pairings, the price is significantly higher than most of Next's menu offerings. Tickets are between $295 and $345 a person. But we wouldn't expect the typical high-end pairing-menu junk; based on the quotes in their promotional video, they're taking a more informal approach. As Chef Grant Achatz says, "In a lot of ways, a wine-focused menu is pretty pretentious. It's just grape juice."

Tickets are available on Next's website though their Tock ticketing system. Remember, unpopular times can be cheaper, so if you are flexible, consider shopping around.
