Nudist Camp Helps WGN Anchor Recreate 'Top Gun' Scene...Naked

The experience of attending a campground for nudists is probably not 95 percent about low-brow dick jokes and Top Gun references, but that about sums up this WGN report on an Indiana camping resort for nudists.

It's difficult to sum up the video's weird mix of light-hearted volleyball fun, veiled body-shaming, horrible erection cliches and Tom Cruise's disembodied head, but you can watch it below and see for yourself.

"That's a good-sized pole," WGN Sports Anchor Pat Tomasulo says to a grey-haired man standing beside him, naked, and holding a fishing pole at the Ponderosa Nudist Resort—thus kicking off a rollicking five-and-a-half-minute segment of similarly on-the-nose penis wordplay.

"Do people who don't understand it poke fun at the whole lifestyle?" Tomasulo asks another resident. He then quickly follows up with a comment emblematic of the lazy dad humor that pervades the rest of the segment: "I like some of the buildings around here, when were they erected?"

The interviews briefly nod at serious reporting, describing the draws of the nudist lifestyle and what brings people to the resort, run for generations by an Indiana family, before quickly devolving into a Top Gun-inspired montage in which Tomasulo joins in on the nudist fun and eventually plays volleyball with a crew of campers. The word campy doesn't begin to cover it.
