Portillo's Might Be Coming To The South Loop

Everyone in the South and West Loop, prepare to get excited. Portillo's, everyone's favorite hot dog spot (and holder of a coveted spot on our best french fry list) may be opening a spot in your area.

NBC Chicago spotted the news on the Chicago Building Permits database. The description of the permit: "NEW CONSTRUCTION OF PORTILLO'S RESTAURANT AS PER PLANS," and the address is at 520 W. Taylor St., close to the South Loop Whole Foods complex.

This development fits with news we reported on earlier this year: The new CEO of Portillo's, Keith Kinsey, is aiming for an aggressive expansion in the coming years.

Aside from preliminary review, none of the permits have been issued yet, so don't assume that you're gonna be scarfing down dogs anytime soon. Watch this space.
