Milwaukee Ave is a hot spot for property developers right now and more apartments are on the way. Bucktown residents have been receptive to plans for a new, transit-oriented apartment building at 1920 N. Milwaukee.

The building designed by firm Brininstool + Lynch would replace a single-story retail building and feature 50 rental units and ten parking spaces, according to Curbed. There will also be 5,800 square feet of space for retail on the ground floor. It would be a big change for the block, which has an unused lot.

Beyond the concept of micro-apartments, there will be a mix of one- and two-bedroom units averaging around 750 square feet, Curbed reported.

There's lots of competition up and down Milwaukee right now. Property Markets Group has a Brininstool + Lynch-designed building under construction now across from the Congress Theater. Buildings designed by Wheeler Kearns, bKL Architecture and Pappageorge Haymes Partners are also planned for Milwaukee Ave.

Some Logan Square residents are not happy about the new developments around the California Blue Line Station and have been fighting with Ald. Proco Joe Moreno about it. The new developments in Bucktown have not been as controversial.
