Nando's spicy flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken is taking Chicago by storm. Due to demand, the South African-Portuguese restaurant is opening a location in Lincoln Park this month and another in the Loop this November. The chain plans to expand to more Chicago neighborhoods in the future, according to a statement announced Friday.
"When we moved to Chicago earlier this year, we intended to open only three locations here in 2015," Burton Heiss, CEO of Nando's PERi-PERi USA, said in a statement. "But once we fired up our grills at West Loop and Lakeview, it became instantly clear we needed to keep going and accelerate our timetable."
The Lincoln Park location will open for business on Sept. 30 at 1500 N. Clybourn Ave. and the Loop location will open in late November at 22 S. Wabash. Both restaurants will feature original works of contemporary African art.
Nando's, which was founded in South Africa, operates restaurants around the world but has only entered the Chicago, Washington DC and Baltimore markets in the U.S. so far.
