A man is in jail on charges of criminal sexual abuse after being accused of grabbing a woman at the CTA Fullerton train station last week.
Rodriguez was ordered held in jail in lieu of a hefty $500,000 bail Sunday, according to the Tribune, when he appeared before Judge James Brown for a bond hearing at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse.
27-year-old Xavier Rodriguez, of the 1200 block of W. 32nd St., allegedly grabbed a 22-year-old woman from behind and sexually abused her at the stop at 3:40 a.m. on Sept. 25, according to authorities. She screamed for help and he fled the scene.
Rodriguez allegedly followed the victim onto a Red Line train and tried to penetrate her with his hands through her clothes, according to prosecutors. The incident was captured on CTA surveillance video and the victim identified him in a photo array, the Tribune reported.
Rodriguez is no stranger to the criminal justice system. He has two prior misdemeanors convictions, one for trespassing and one for battery, according to prosecutors.
His defense attorney told the court he lives with his grandfather and works at a temp agency.
