Photos: Meet River North's Newest Fancy Steakhouse

The steakhouse scene in Chicago has become voluminous enough that Chicago Magazine had to make a diagram to keep track of it, but it's not slowing down. STK Chicago, an outpost of a national chain of upscale steakhouses that sells itself as a blend of a "modern steakhouse and a chic lounge" is set to open Thursday on the lower floor of the Museum of Broadcast Communications in River North.
It looks like it will check all the boxes. Seafood tower? Check. Fancy mini burgers? Check. DJ? Check. Tuna Tartare? Check. But there are some interesting twists that we look forward to checking out, including lobster Rockefeller with leeks, spinach and king crab, and burrata with poblano pesto.
The founder of the restaurant group behind STK, Jonathan Segal, told the Trib more about the concept.
The idea is to stay, order more drinks, mingle. "We're not a club, but we have a DJ," Segal says. "Our market is a little more mature, a lot of 30-somethings who don't want to be forced into bottle service or be told by an 18-year-old doorman that they can't come in. They have dinner at STK, and the bar scene is good, the music is great, they have a table, and everyone says, 'Why are we going anywhere? Let's just stay here and have a few more drinks.'"
While the party scene isn't as appealing to us, the food looks pretty damn good. Check out some photos in the gallery above.
STK Chicago is located at 9. West Kinzie St.
