Photos: Watch Cubs Fans Lose Their Minds

As the Cubs scored a 4-0 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates far away from Wrigley Field, fans swarmed the North Side ballpark, high on the latest in a series of unexpected wins and that have shot the team into a playoffs run.
A mad frenzy to celebrate the Cubs' win, just before 10:00 p.m., erupted around Wrigleyville last night as longtime Cubs fans heralded their first chance in seven years to cheer for a winning team into October. The celebration was relatively tame, according to Chicago police reps, who told reporters there were no major crime incidents surrounding the Cubs' win in Chicago Wednesday night.
Fans may be in for more nights of revelry to come. The Cubs are set to play the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Division Series in St. Louis Friday and again on Saturday.
After a day of superstitions and wishful thinking leading up to the Wednesday night game, some fans told the RedEye they were out to celebrate like it was the World Series.
“To me, this game is sort of like a World Series because our players are so young that I didn’t even expect them to get anywhere this year, so this is a bonus for me,” said Amanda Saliga, a 35-year-old Lakeview resident. “They are going way above and beyond what anyone could have expected.”
That particular fan then interrupted her interview to order another round of shots—one for every run the Cubs made.
You can watch Cubs fans (and some players) lose their minds in real time all over social media, but here are some highlights:
