A man was arrested for allegedly robbing a 23-year-old woman and slashing her face on the platform of the Clark/Lake station early this morning.

It happened around 4 a.m., CBS Chicago reports. A Good Samaritan witnessing the incident called police and followed the suspect, keeping police updated on his whereabouts, according to the Chicago Tribune. A 48-year-old suspect was arrested: a knife and the woman's cell phone were recovered. Charges were pending.

The woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was expected to be treated and released, police said. She suffered a deep gash to her cheek that required stitches, CBS says.
