A Chicago Department of Water Management employee was shot Friday morning while he was part of a crew fixing a sewer in the 1400 block of West 85th Street in Auburn Gresham, near the southeast corner of Foster Park.
The 28-year-old man drove to the site in his private vehicle and parked around 8 a.m., when someone in another vehicle that pulled to the side of his opened fire, blowing out the window of the victim’s vehicle and shooting him in the face, according to CBS2 and other reports.
A woman who witnessed the shooting said the offender pulled next to the victim in a gray or silver four-door car and began firing immediately. She said the gunman fled through a nearby alley.
The victim is being treated at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
No one is in custody.
