Some CTA Platform Heaters Are Already On In Time For Halloween

It's way too cold this morning, but we have some good news for CTA commuters. Some 'L' train platform heaters are already on even though the official activation date is Nov. 1, according to CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski.

Why are some on a couple days early? Crews have been out at the stations for the final inspection and maintenance before the Nov. 1 turn-on date and because they're so close to the time frame, they might just leave the heaters on after testing, Hosinski said.

The CTA's heaters make life in Chicago a little bit more bearable during the winters. But we're still hoping that El Nino will save us from yet another brutal winter. At least with some station heaters on just before Halloween, we can wear our slutty pumpkin costumes in comfort.
