Wrigley Field's iconic marquee is coming down for winter safekeeping while the Cubs continue as massive renovation project on and around the field.
The sign will be put back by Opening Game Day next spring, according to Curbed. In the meantime, construction on a new plaza just west of the field is promising to bring new concessions, concerts and shopping to Wrigleyville.
In honor of the landmark season the Cubs just had, the team is giving away large chunks of the sod at the "knothole gate" on North Shieffield Avenue, according to ABC7. You can take home an 18 by 18 inch chunk of the field, which the team replaces every year, until they run out—it's first come, first served.
