A mysterious car explosion at a Rogers Park parking garage destroyed five cars Friday morning.

The explosion took place early Friday morning at the Pritzker Parking Garage near North Sheridan Road, and was extinguished around 5:30 a.m., fire officials told ABC7. In total, five vehicles were engulfed in flames due to the explosion, according to reports.

No one was hurt in the explosion, and investigators trying to figure out the cause of the explosion are not calling it suspicious.

The parking garage, named for local philanthropist Jennifer Pritzker, first opened this September on the former site of a Buddhist meditation center. Its construction was met with controversy when neighbors said the meditation center's Prairie-style home should be a historical landmark and that the towering parking garage belonged in the suburbs, according to DNAinfo. At the time, some neighbors said they could not think of a worse use for the space than a parking garage.
