The Abbey Pub is canceling its main stage concerts this weekend after a fire broke out in the Irving Park venue early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters arrived at the scene around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday and extinguished the blaze in about 15 minutes, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford told the Tribune.

The cause of the fire is unknown but it may have started by the back door, Thomas Looney, whose family owns the pub, said to the Tribune. The bar area is fine even though the venue, located at 3420 W. Grace St., sustained some smoke damage. Shows scheduled for the main stage on Friday and Saturday may be moved to the stage by the bar area.

The Abbey Pub underwent a dramatic transformation on the Spike show "Bar Rescue" in 2011.

It's only been a few months since another famous Chicago venue, Second City, survived a bad fire. All shows have resumed after the building sustained some damage.
