If you're brave enough to deal with the crowds at Saturday's Magnificent Mile Lights Festival and parade downtown, you will be able to smell authentic Garrett popcorn cooking.

The popcorn scent will be infused from the shop's float in the parade, the festival announced in a statement.

Free popcorn is involved, too. If you stop by Garrett's booth at the Lights Festival Lane in Pioneer Court from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can get a free treat size bag of Garrett Mix popcorn and a warm cup of their CaramelCrisp Apple Cider. All donations will benefit Lurie Children's Circle of Friends.

Garrett's is not the only famous Chicago food you can sample for free at the Lights Festival Lane. Connie's Pizza, Fannie May Fine Chocolates and Eli's Cheesecake will also be giving away free food.

The parade steps off at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Michigan Avenue and Oak Street and travels south to Wacker Drive.
