Video: Fire Breaks Out On Hancock Tower's 50th Floor

A two-alarm fire broke out on the 50th floor of the iconic Hancock Tower this afternoon.

Five people were injured in the blaze, mostly due to smoke inhalation, and at least one was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to NBC Chicago. The fire that broke out on the east side of the tower was knocked out by 4 p.m.

The Chicago Fire Department said that the fire started in a bedroom of a residential unit that was completely gutted by the fire. Firefighters did not evacuate the building, but instead moved those inside away from the floors affected by the fire and smoke.
