The French Fries and Ice Cream at El Ideas - one of the 100 best things of the year.

Every year, TimeOut Chicago does a list of the 100 best things to eat in the city. These aren't restaurant or bar reviews - rather, it's a list of individual dishes and drinks worth seeking out, and it's always one of our favorite things they do every year. The 2015 list came out today, and you can even print out a checklist to put on your fridge.

Dining Critic (and former Chicagoist Weekend Editor) Amy Cavanaugh has ranged far and wide over the course of the year, and the list has admirable breadth; it wouldn't be all that exciting if it was just a list of the fanciest high-end dinner entrees she ate during 2015. Categories include burgers/sandwiches, breakfast dishes, drinks, entrees, desserts and more.

A few notable inclusions that we particularly agree with: the hot smoked salmon at Ampersand for brunch, the Nonna's meatball sub at Nonna's for lunch, the langosta at Rural Society for dinner, the french onion soup at Bistro Campagne as a small plate and the dreamy coconut financier at The Blanchard.

There's even stuff that we hadn't heard of (proof that you never know everything about the food scene). Boeufhaus has a Philly cheesesteak for lunch?? Luke's lobster serves a crab roll? Bub City serves "Trucker Snacks?"

Print out the whole list and start working your way through it; you've got a whole year before the next one comes out.
