One family in the burbs is getting into the spirit of the season with their latest Christmas lights display. Blackhawks season, that is.
In previous years, the Larsen family in Elburn choreographed a display to Frozen's "Do You Want To Build A Snowman?" and an EDM version of that infernal Christmas song "Drummer Boy". But this year it was all about hockey.
This year's Christmas display is choreographed to the tune of the Blackhawks entrance theme: Ted Nugent's "Stranglehold" with a few goal horns for good measure. There are lights that light up to show the phrase "Goal" and a couple Stanley Cups that celebrate the team's many recent championships. They also play Blackhawks' favorite "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)" by Fall Out Boy and the team's goal song "Chelsea Dagger."
On their YouTube page, the mastermind behind the lights says that it took over 80 hours to program these songs. The family explains, "So when I started programming saad, sharp, and Bickell where still on the team. Also to me personally Sharp will always be a Hawk!"
The lights have been on since Thanksgiving and they run through Jan. 1 at 42W891 Beith Rd. in Elburn. It runs Monday through Thursday 5 pm until 10:30 pm, and weekends 5 pm through midnight. Tune your radio to 88.5 FM to hear the tunes.
