A man was killed and his daughter seriously injured after a 16-year-old drag racer traveling 100 mph slammed into their car in the suburbs over the weekend.
Chuck Siebel, 49, and his 15-year-old daughter Cassidy had just dropped off her friend in Aurora when they were T-boned around 10:15 p.m. on Friday, NBC Chicago reports. The pair were in a Toyota Highlander and pulling out of a subdivision to make a left turn when a Dodge Charger slammed into them. Siebel died of his injuries at 3 a.m. Monday morning. Cassidy is expected to survive her injuries.
Police say charges are pending against the 16-year-old who slammed into them, as well as the 20-year-old who was racing him in a Pontiac Grand Prix.
Dan Ferrelli of the Aurora Police Department spoke out against drag racing, saying, "When you look at the number of lives that had been affected by this, and especially at this time of year, it's just a horrific, horrific crash."
Chuck Siebel worked in sales and volunteered for youth basketball games in his spare time. His pastor at Aurora's New Song Community Church remembers him as a generous guy, a loving husband and father with a great sense of humor.
He was also a White Sox fans whose friends started a GoFundMe to donate to White Sox Charities in his memory:
This campaign was started by the social media friends of Chuck Siebel. We are all devasted by the loss of our friend, who was fatally injured in a car accident and passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015. We would like to collect donations to Chicago White Sox Charities in memory of Chuck. Many of us on Twitter first met him at a "tweet up" game in August 2012, and have been friends ever since. He was a great man with a fun spirit, who passionately loved his family and sports teams. As the White Sox brought us together, we honor Chuck's memory with a donation to the team's official charity. We ask you to please keep Chuck and his family in your thoughts. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
We'll miss you, @ThatChuck.
