Photos: Why Zoo Lights Might Be Our Favorite Holiday Tradition

Lincoln Park Zoo's ZooLights is one of our favorite Chicago holiday traditions. Christmas lights transform the zoo into a magical holiday world and no matter how cold it is, we don't mind being outside.

The lights are on Friday through Sunday until Dec. 13 and after that, lights will be on every night (except Dec. 24 and 25) through January 3. It starts at 4:30 (when it starts to get dark) and continues until 9 p.m. every night. It's free and open to the public.

Holiday season activities around the zoo include photos with Santa until Dec. 23, free holiday crafts, live ice carving, ice skating and more.
