Video: Michelle Obama Raps With Jay Pharoah About Virtues Of College

First Lady Michelle Obama teamed up with Saturday Night Live's Jay Pharoah to put together a music video entreating folks to go to college. Pharaoh opens the hip-hop track with rhymes about the benefits of higher education, extolling the virtues of various majors including archaeology and astronomy (but not astrology).

FLOTUS comes in during the second verse with rhymes detailing the work ethic instilled in her while growing up on the South Side of Chicago, lending the song a little bit of midsection of gravitas before closing out the track with some more exuberant shout outs alongside Pharaoh:

Wanna fight crime? You should go to college! If you wanna write rhymes, fill your head with knowledge! If you wanna stare at grass, don't go to college! But for everything else, you should go to college!

The video was created to shed light on the Better Make Room organization, in partnership with the First Lady's Reach Higher program; both are focused on the importance of education fundamentals and the path to higher learning institutions.

Of course, if more folks went to college and received a solid education, we probably wouldn't have to put up with this.
