Video: Stephen Colbert And Ike Barinholtz Attempt A Chicago Accent

“What’s the most Chicago sentence you can think of?” Stephen Colbert asked comedian Ike Barinholtz on Monday night’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Barinholtz, sliding into a decent Chicago accent, said, “You can tell him from me that I said ‘Kiss my ass!’”

According to Barinholtz, there are Chicago things besides passing cranky messages through mutual friends. His list: “a guy named Pat, or a woman named Mary Pat,” winters that last from November to mid-May, and wet Italian beefs. (“Chicagoans are obsessed with wet food,” says Barinholtz.)

A regular on The Mindy Project who grew up in Lakeview, Barinholtz has a role in the new Tina Fey-Amy Poehler movie Sisters, which comes out on Friday. Colbert also lived in Chicago for 11 years, so both comedians have a strong connection to the city.
