At about 9:45 p.m. last night, a 21-year-old man was fatally hit by a CTA Brown Line train at the line’s Kedzie stop, where trains run at street level.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead on the scene, police and Chicago Fire Department spokesman Jeff Lyle told the Tribune. Chicago Police Department officials added that they would investigate the death.
A nearby restaurant worker told the Tribune what he saw just before the accident:
Abdallah Alhameedi, 20, said he was smoking a cigarette near Salam Restaurant, where he's a busboy, just south of the Kedzie stop when he saw two men fighting. The Tribune reporter behind the story also tweeted a photo of the scene of the accident:One man threw a can of beer at the other, and both started running north toward the crossing on Kedzie, Alhameedi said. Moments later, Alhameedi said he noticed a train stop and saw one of the men crying nearby.
