Will Chicago get a white Christmas this year? Not according to current weather reports, which predict a snow-less Christmas, despite the brief cold snap that will cap off this week.

According to AccuWeather, we’re not alone—thanks to the same mighty El NiƱo responsible for last weekend's high temperatures, most cities nationwide will miss out on Christmas snow, even East Coast snow powerhouses.

"There's just not going to be enough cold air to support accumulating snow," AccuWeather Meteorologist Brett Anderson said in a press release. "In Chicago, snow is possible, but any totals will still be less than normal."

The Great Lakes region could see some lake-effect snowfall in the next week, with several storms passing through, but weather reports show it is likely to melt before Christmas Day.

However, there’s always a chance of a surprise dusting of snow in Chicago—just ask this guy—and local freelance reporter Michael Lansu encouraged his Twitter followers not to give up hope yet.

AccuWeather meteorologist Tom Kines not only predicted a snow-less holiday in Chicago to DNAInfo, but as he upsettingly put it, “I guess if you were a betting person, you would bet on a brown Christmas."
