Chance the Rapper is using his platform to help Chicago's homeless this winter. On Wednesday, he launched the "Warmest Winter Chicago" initiative to raise $100,000 to buy 1,000 coats for the homeless.
He's already raised over 10 percent of the final goal, he tweeted Thursday morning:
In less than 24 hrs we have raised over 10% of our final goal for https://t.co/HmAGhPKny3 Thank you @WindyCityLIVE pic.twitter.com/tYyPVZMqP7

After appearing on Saturday Night Live this weekend, he made the Chicago media rounds with appearances on WGCI and Windy City Live to raise awareness.
He's offering a great incentive to donate—one donor will win a chance to meet Chance and two tickets to a Bulls game:
A shocking 20 percent of Chicago Public School children and 140,000 Chicagoans are homeless, Chance told WGCI. By partnering with the Detroit-based Empowerment Plan, which hires formerly homeless people to make coats and sleeping bags, he will be helping people on the streets and people just getting themselves off the streets.
It's not the first time Chance has used his platform to help his city. He's already launched the successful Teens In The Park Fest, Open Mike Chicago and the #SaveChicago anti-violence campaign every Memorial Day Weekend, according to RedEye.
