We've been watching this construction project for a long time—the long-vacant building on Lawrence Avenue near Western Avenue has been covered with plywood construction walls for months and months. The wait is finally over, as Roots' signature Quad Cities style pizza comes to Lincoln Square (2200 W. Lawrence Ave.) this Saturday.

We got a sneak peek inside the space a few weeks ago, and it's looking great. There's a large dining room, a huge prep kitchen (anticipating a ton of take out business) and a good-sized bar serving a full cocktail menu. There's even a unique "table on rails" at the back of the restaurant to make it easy to accommodate large groups!

In case you're wondering what makes Roots "Quad Cities" style pizza different, it's got a crust made with brewers malt for an extra-rich flavor, and it's cut into strips with scissors. Trust us, it's delicious.

Starting on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 11 a.m., the restaurant will be open for dine-in business. Don't call asking for delivery yet, as delivery and carryout are coming at a later date. Oh, and The Sixth, the next door cocktail bar helmed by mixologist Ben Schiller? It's not open yet either, and they haven't revealed a date. But when this entire complex is open, Lincoln Square will have a great new pizza place and craft cocktail bar in the growing Lawrence Avenue corridor.
