A former Chicago lawyer has been arrested for the murder of his wife, more than 40 years ago.

Donnie Rudd, 73, now lives in Texas where he was arrested on Thursday for the murder of his wife Noreen Kumeta Rudd in 1973, according to CBS2.

Rudd, who has been disbarred, waived extradition to Illinois and should be on his way back to Cook County soon, according to police in Sugar Land, Tex.

Law enforcement became suspicious that Rudd had killed his 19-year-old wife when her body was exhumed and underwent an autopsy two years ago. At the time of her death, police believed that she died in a car crash in suburban Barrington Hills only 28 days after their wedding.

Authorities think that Rudd may have killed his wife before the car accident, possibly to collect a $100,000 insurance policy.

He is also a suspect in the 1991 murder of a client.
