A Rogers Park man turned himself into 49th Ward Ald. Joe Moore, and then to the police, as the perpetrator of a robbery and sexual assault this weekend near the Jarvis Red Line station.

The 26-year-old, Milton Anderson, was charged with two felonies: one felony count of robbery armed with a firearm, and one of aggravated criminal sexual assault with a firearm.

After he turned himself in, the victim positively identified him as her assailant.

This past Saturday, at 4:40 a.m., police say the attacker came up behind the victim as the two were leaving the Jarvis Red Line station. He grabbed her, showed her his gun, then ushered her into a secluded area, where he robbed and sexually assaulted her.

Anderson was prompted to give himself up to authorities when he saw photos of himself, pulled from CTA surveillance footage, plastered all over the news.

According to a statement from Moore, Anderson also turned himself in “at the urging of a community activist who recognized him” based on the photos.

Anderson is slated to appear in bond court Wednesday, police said.
