Buy This Historic Firehouse And Turn It Into a Firehome

The historic firehouse on West Superior Street is on the market for $550,000, according to Estately. Built in 1879—eight years after the Chicago Fire—the three-story building is currently home to construction scraps and, based on the listing photos, assorted cars.

However, the listers make a case for fixing it up into a single-family home. It's already got two bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, and a fully-equipped kitchen.

It’s also in a cushy spot, a mile from United Center and walking distance from Mariano’s and McDonald’s. (It has views of both food establishments, if you’re into that.)

Another potential draw for families? The firehouse has an unfinished attic with roof access. Factor in the fireman’s poles surely tucked away on the premises, and the place has strong fort potential. Kids are probably instinctively lining up outside now.
