As a person who frequents Starbucks every day, even in blizzards, I am very excited to report that my dreams have come true: the tiny Wicker Park Starbucks steps from the Damen Blue Line stop, where I am regularly forced to use Mob-level intimidation to get a chair, is slated to expand.

A barista at said Starbucks confirmed reports that the location at 1588 N. Milwaukee Ave. will expand into the nearby space vacant since City Soles moved out.

The Starbucks location may also try out Starbucks’ Evening menu of wine, craft beer, and lovably douchey small plates like “artichoke and goat cheese flatbread,” Starbucks confirmed. This menu is already available at select Chicago Starbucks, including the one at Oak and Rush.

Right now, the Wicker Park location is applying for a liquor license, evidenced by a bright orange flier on its door.

Once renovated, the expanded Wicker Park Starbucks will have its main entrance on North Avenue, and leave Flash Taco undisturbed. (Flash Taco is the taqueria on Damen that sits between the one-time City Soles storefront and Starbucks.)

Don’t worry—Flash Taco will outlive all of us. It will probably even outlive the deathless Starbucks brand mermaid.
