Danny Pudi, the Chicago-born comedian and actor best known as Abed on Community, will be in town a week from Friday to perform in Stage 773’s Sketchfest.

This is great news for his fans and people overwhelmed by the plenty of Sketchfest. Running from Jan. 7 to 17 on Thursdays through Sundays, the festival features 165 groups and 186 shows.

Here’s something specific to hold onto in the ocean of comedy, though: Pudi’s sketch group, “Siblings of Doctors,” will put on a 7 p.m. and an 8 p.m. show on Friday, January 15. Tickets are $15.

(You can also livestream the show, if you are under house arrest.)

The four-person show will also feature comedians Rasika Mathur, Ranjit Souri, and Parvesh Cheena, and its blurb includes the poster-worthy endorsement “‘Best show I've ever seen!’--Somebody, we hope.”

This will be sort of a homecoming for Pudi, who grew up in Brighton Park and Jefferson Park, and studied comedy at the Second City Conservatory.

You can see the full Sketchfest calendar here.

You can also wait an unknown amount of time and see Pudi starring in Strange Calls, an upcoming horror comedy show where he plays a cop.

In closing, here's Pudi pretending to be a bird or something.
