Raid Of In-Home Daycare In Dolton Turns Up A Lot Of Weed

Police officers found pot, guns and drugs at an in-home daycare in Dolton, Illinois, Thursday. Officers who searched the home arrested four people after finding marijuana in an unsecured area, within children’s reach, as well as a gun and other drugs in a locked room, authorities said.

The arrestees were Maverick Magee, age 28; Donzell James, 25; Deshawn Boswell, 25; and Charlene Woodard, 50.

According to the statement, the police raid of the daycare at 14400 Block of South Kimbark Avenue, in Dolton, unfolded like this:
Upon entry, officers detected a strong odor of cannabis which permeated throughout the building. Officers observed a mason jar containing cannabis in an unsecure area, accessible to children. Very close to the children’s play area was a locked room which was found to contain cannabis, codeine bottles, and a loaded handgun. Children were observed in the home at the time of the arrests. No injuries were reported.
Magee was charged with a felony for weapons possession, and James was charged with a felony for possession of cannabis.
