A famous New York pizzeria is opening shop in the Windy City. "Critically acclaimed and fan favorite" Paulie Gee's has picked a Logan Square location at 2451 N. Milwaukee Ave., according to the RedEye.

Don't worry, they're not traditional thin-crust New York-style pizza but "Neapolitan inspired" and wood-fired.

The first Chicago location will be the fast-growing chain's fifth location. They only opened the original pizzeria in Greenpoint, Brooklyn in 2010. They have "collaborations" with local pizzeria owners and operators in Baltimore, Miami, Columbus and now Chicago.

"We like to think we're a fraternity of pizza geeks that have Paulie as our ring leader," Derrick Tung, majority owner and pizza maker at the Logan Square restaurant, told Red Eye. "He's helping us each go after our own dreams and we'll be sharing some of his amazing pies with every city while we add a bit of our own spin.

There will be new pizzas developed for the Logan Square location, like the Tung's Thrilla with Filipino longaniza sausage, tomato chutney and an egg. Plus the Paulie Gee's classics: Greenpointer, Monte Cristo, Daniela Spinaci, Delboy, Ricky Ricotta, Cherry Jones, eight vegan pizzas and the dessert pie, Ricotta Be Paulie Gee.

Tung hopes to open the restaurant by late spring but it depends on the city permit process. The prices will average under $20 and serve one to two.
