Comedians Nick Kroll and John Mulaney will star in a three-day March run of their Kroll Show-inspired live show, “Oh, Hello,” at the Athenaeum Theater. Based on the photo above, this is a show about men wearing wigs!

A blurb from a Kroll Show-watcher in the Tribune gets more specific:

Kroll and his Chicago-native "Kroll Show" colleague John Mulaney will bring their sleazy, tuna-related prankster characters Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland to the Athenaeum Theatre.

The show is fresh from a sold-out off Broadway run. The New York Times was a fan:

[I]t turns out that these sour, crotchety guys are best savored in large doses. Mr. Kroll and Mr. Mulaney don’t so much portray Gil and George as allow themselves to be taken over by them, as if by dybbuks. The joy in watching them comes from seeing what at first registers as a single, obvious joke keep growing bigger and bigger and bigger, until its warped, silly worldview takes over your mind, too.

I don’t know what any of these people are talking about, because I haven’t seen the Kroll Show, but here’s my personal endorsement: Nick Kroll is dating Amy Poehler, which means he is funny, and John Mulaney put out a Netflix standup special, The Comeback Kid, that made me laugh until I cried and also got weird ab cramps. (The special was filmed at the Chicago Theater, too!)

Although tickets are a hefty $60, it seems worth checking out.

The show will play at 7:30 p.m. from Sunday, March 20 through Tuesday, March 22. The show lasts 90 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission.
