Bucktown Garage Attack Caught On Surveillance Video

By Kate Shepherd in News on Jan 19, 2016 4:40PM

A Bucktown nanny fended off a daytime attacker, who was caught on surveillance video entering a home's garage.

In the video, a gray car is seen driving past an open garage. The car stops and a man apparently carrying a weapon gets out and heads toward the garage towards the nanny who had just parked in the garage, according to CBS2. The video can be viewed on the station's site and below.

"It appears she struggled and hollered and screamed, yelled and the guy fled without taking anything," Steve Jensen, president of the Bucktown Community Organization, told CBS.

The assailant had a kitchen knife, according to the nanny.

"It's pretty frightening," neighborhood resident Gene Pierson told CBS. "When you see the video and see how fast this guy came into the garage and how little time she had to react, it's shocking."
