Remember when Highland Park’s own Billy Corgan quit Twitter to focus on his car blog? Well, that was back in October. Nowadays, his site People and Their Cars seems to have become a blog about Christmas decorations, and in further proof that Corgan does what he wants, he’s hitting the road again this spring with the Smashing Pumpkins.

Their new tour of “classic North American Theaters” will be an extension of their short "In Plainsong" tour, and will be an “Acoustic-Electro Evening,” even though that is really an oxymoron, according to a statement from the band.

Singer-songwriter Liz Phair, best known for her album Exile in Guyville, will open.

The Smashing Pumpkins will play Chicago’s Civic Opera House on Thursday, April 14. Tickets, which start at $49.50, go on sale this coming Friday at 11:00 a.m., CST, on Ticketmaster or at the Civic Opera House’s box office. (You can also buy them by phone.)

The national tour kicks off in late March. Here’s the full schedule, according to Pitchfork:
