The Chicago International Movies & Music Festival (CIMMfest) is a four day festival celebrating cutting edge film and live music. This year the festival is taking place from April 13 to 17 at venues all across Chicago. They just announced their first wave of music and movies that will be featured at the 8th edition of the festival this year, and they've brought in some really outstanding stuff.
On the music end, the lineups cross decades and include such diverse groups as the challenging Deer Tick, the venerable Taj Mahal Trio, got legend Peter Murphy, and hip-hop visionary Afrika Bambaataa.
Less of the film docket has been announced, but there are a few notable inclusions already. We're most excited about the Chicago airing of Cracked Actor, the long commercially unreleased 1975 documentary about David Bowie, capturing the icon in a unique state, both physically and mentally. We're also excited about the Chicago premiere of Who Is Lydia Loveless?, a documentary following the Bloodshot music artist.
Passes to the festival are now on sale.
The music lineup thus far includes:
Taj Mahal Trio
J Dilla Tribute: featuring Slum Village & Black Milk
Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors
