Kanye West knows Deadmau5. We know West is familiar with the acclaimed music producer, whose legal name is Joel Thomas Zimmerman, because the pair promoted the music streaming service Tidal together last March. Above is a photo of them, standing right next to each other.

But that hasn't stopped West from spitting out one of the most artfully clumsy takedowns of the masked EDM maker we've ever seen—in response to a Tweet from Deadmau5 suggesting that West illegally pirates music software, which in turn was in response to a Tweet from West about Sufjan Stevens, which showed a browser tab on his computer open to the whimsically-titled website Pirate Bay.

West set about trolling Deadmau5 for a couple hours Wednesday afternoon, and the results are beautiful. How do we know he's trolling Deadmau5? Because his Tweets read as if they were either meant to be a cheeky meta-commentary on hashtags, or actually written by a dad using voice-to-text on his smart phone. (And why can't they be both?)

That's Kanye, for you. A very detail-oriented Twitter user who may or may not know how to pronounce Deadmau5.
