The expansion of Chicago's riverfront walkways will continue with the long-gestating Addison Underbridge Connector project. Chicago Department Of Transportation officials confirmed construction of the path, running along the river from Belmont to Montrose avenues along the North Branch will be moving forward.

Transportation department projections are tentatively scheduling the bid for this summer, and the project to be finished sometime late next year—but, this being Chicago, it's probably likely the late 2017 projection is a bit optimistic. According to a CDOT presentation from 2012 embedded below, the project will cost some $9.5 million. According to city transportation spokesperson Susan Hofer, it will be funded by federal grants, but she declined to elaborate.

The new path would be the latest in a series of connecting parks projects for Chicago, including The 606.
