Are you a big fan of TV chefs? Do you lay out all of your ingredients in tiny bowls before you start cooking and then narrate the process as you go along for an imaginary audience? Not that we've ever done that, but if you do, this is your big chance. MasterChef is holding open auditions in Chicago next week.

On Saturday, March 19, there will be an open call for MasterChef Season 8. On the website, the Chicago location is still TBD, but the RedEye says it's at the Congress Plaza Hotel at 520 S. Michigan Ave. (we'd check before going). You have to pre-register and fill out an application, which includes questions about your signature dishes, your secret weapons in the kitchen and your first memories of cooking. Note, if you work in a professional kitchen, you can't apply.

The audition doesn't just test your screen worthiness. You have to bring a prepared dish, your own dishes, silverware, and everything else, and plate it on site, for the judges. There is going to be some serious creativity on display, we suspect, so bring your A-Game. Good luck, Chicago chefs!
