These photos are not 'shopped. In the West Loop Friday night, there really was a swanky fundraising gala full of dogs.
This was PAWS’ 10th annual “Animal Magnetism” party, held at the Morgan Manufacturing warehouse. About 600 people and 150 dogs attended, according to Sarah McDonald, PAWS' associate director of media relations. The festivities had a special guest: Noodles the Wonder Dog, who is such a trick virtuoso he's appeared on Good Morning America. A one-time shelter dog turned certified therapy dog, he performed during the cocktail hour, McDonald said.
Noodles aside, the event had all the usual gala staples—dinner buffet, open bar, DJ—as well as an all-species dance floor, a dog spa where dogs could get “pawdicures,” and a smorgasbord of cupcakes for dogs, or "pupcakes."
Baja Men's "Who Let the Dogs Out" was a big hit on the dance floor, according to McDonald.
Tickets were $150 per person and $25 per dog, and the event raised more than $180,000 for PAWS’ no-kill animal health and rescue operation (though PAWS hasn't tallied the exact number yet). PAWS, which stands for “Pets Are Worth Saving,” reports that it found new families for almost 6,000 homeless pets in 2015, and performed more than 18,000 free and low cost spay/neuter surgeries.
