Four-day passes to Lollapalooza sold out almost immediately yesterday, despite the line-up still being (mostly) a secret. The line-up has just been announced, so let's see if those passes are worth it.
There are no real surprises surrounding the headliners. As many speculated, Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, J. Cole and Lana Del Rey are all up there. And we even anticipated the announcement that Jane's Addiction would be making an appearance.
In an initial attempt at digging deeper into the undercard, we're pleased to see Grimes will be bringing her twisted pop to a larger stage, and we couldn't be happier to see HAIM's sunny California sound making a return to Chicago. Alessia Cara released one of our favorite albums of last year, and we're also excited to see how her fresh take on pop and R&B translates to the stage. Yeasayer, Miike Snow, and Two Door Cinema Club will keep the hipsters moving while Lettuce gets the hippies dancing. And we're extremely pleased to see The Struts made the bill; perhaps this will be their chance to break their excellent Queen-inspired glam rock bombast into the the Stateside mainstream.
We do have one question though: Third Eye Blind?
If you didn't score passes yet, 1-day passes will go on ale today at 10 a.m. for $120. If you've got some extra cash laying around you can pick up 1-day VIP passes for $650 at that same time. And if you're really rolling in the dough, there are still pricey packages available for the whole weekend. All that ticket information is here.
UPDATE: General admission 1-day passes are sold out for all four days. VIP passes are still available though.
And now, without further ado, the full line-up for the 2016 Chicago edition of Lollapalooza.
Lollapalooza will take place from July 28 - 31 in Grant Park. You can view the daily line-ups here.
