Last weekend, there was an electrical fire in the kitchen at Lost Lake, Paul McGee's awesome Logan Square tiki bar. The bar originally announced they'd be closed for just a few days, but it looks like things were worse than they thought.

We've received a statement from Land and Sea Dept., the group behind Lost Lake:

"Now that we’ve had a few days to process the aftermath of last weekend’s kitchen fire, it has become clear that the smoke damage in Lost Lake will require a little more cleanup than we originally anticipated. We remain grateful that no one was hurt as we are working to reopen as quickly as possible."

This is very sad and unfortunate, and we wish the folks at Lost Lake the very best.

Tiki fans, you're not totally out of luck. Lost Lake has scheduled a series of pop-up events around the area to keep their bar team working. Here's the full list:

  • Monday, April 4, at the Freehand’s Broken Shaker (7pm-2am)
  • Tuesday, April 5, at Sportman’s Club (5pm-2am)
  • Thursday, April 7, at OSB at Longman & Eagle (5pm-12am)
  • Sunday, April 10, at Bar DeVille (7pm-2am)
  • Monday, April 11, in Indianapolis at Thunderbird (7pm-11pm)

This is a great excuse to check out all of these bars, and there will be some new drinks being offered in addition to Lost Lake classics.
